Description

THE RESERVES EXPERIENCE

CARDIFF: TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH, 2015

You are cordially invited to come along to The Reserves Experience on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015.

The Reserves Experience will take around an hour to enjoy and will start at different times throughout the day between 10am and 4.30pm. However, as you will see from the timeslots, we are asking you to come along 15 minutes ahead of the start in order to register. In addition, we have allowed you some time at the end of The Reserves Experience to talk to some Reservists and ask questions. So the timeslots run for an hour and a half in total.

So all you need to do is select a timeslot that’s convenient for you. Of course, it would be great if you could enjoy The Reserves Experience along with colleagues from your department or organisation, led by one of your senior representatives – in which case you would obviously all need to sign up to the same timeslot.

We very much look forward to seeing you there.

Fe'ch gwahoddir yn gynnes i ddod draw i Milwyr wrth Gefn

Y Profiad Ddydd Mawrth, 29 Medi, 2015

Bydd Milwyr wrth Gefn – Y Profiad yn cymryd tuag awr i fwynhau a bydd yn dechrau ar adegau gwahanol yn ystod y dydd rhwng 10:00-16:30. Fodd bynnag, fel y gwelwch oddi wrth y slotiau amser, rydym yn gofyn i chi i ddod draw 15 munud cyn dechrau er mwyn cofrestru. Yn ogystal, rydym wedi caniatáu rhywfaint o amser i chi ar ddiwedd Milwyr Wrth Gefn – Y Profiad i siarad â rhai milwyr wrth gefn a gofyn cwestiynau. Felly, mae’r slotiau amser yn rhedeg am awr a hanner i gyd.

Felly, y cyfan sydd angen i chi ei wneud yw dewis slot sy'n gyfleus i chi. Wrth gwrs, byddai'n wych pe gallech fwynhau Milwyr wrth Gefn – Y Profiad gyda chydweithwyr yn eich adran neu sefydliad, dan arweiniad un o'ch uwch-gynrychiolwyr - yn yr achos hwn, yn amlwg byddai’n rhaid i bawb gofrestru yn yr un slot amser.

Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at eich gweld yno.

FAQs

1) Is there an age limit to being a Reservist?

The Reserve Forces are open to applications from a wide age group (see below) and indeed even higher age limits (up to 55) apply to applicants with specific specialist professional qualifications.

The current age limits for new Reservists’ applications are as follows:

  • Royal Naval Reserve: 16-40
  • Army Reserve: 18-49
  • Royal Air Force Reserve: 18-49

2) Are there any other restrictions to becoming a Reservist?

Everyone who joins the Reserve Forces has to meet some basic eligibility criteria. These may differ depending on which Service you want to join and the particular role you want to choose. As well as age, there are other eligibility criteria relating to nationality/residency, fitness/health, education/qualifications and criminal convictions. You will be able to find out more about eligibility at the Reserves Experience.

3) I can’t attend on that particular date. Will the Reserves Experience be run again?

There will be other Reserves Experience events happening across the country during the course of 2015. These are planned for 15th October in Manchester, 27th October in Edinburgh and 29th October in Glasgow. In addition there will be Reservists at the upcoming Civil Service Live events in Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh and London. So there are plenty of opportunities to find out more about Reserve service even if you can’t make the event in Cardiff.

4) I now can’t attend the time slot I selected. Can I amend it?

Yes, you can. This is very simple. Just log into EventBrite and you can cancel the booking for the time slot you are no longer able to attend and then book a new time slot.

5) Do I need to print off my EventBrite confirmation?

Yes, it would be very helpful if once you’ve registered on EventBrite, you print off your confirmation email and bring it with you to the event as this will speed up registration on the day.

6) Do I need to bring photo ID?

No you will not have to bring photo ID to this event.

7) What is the best way to get to the venue?

By car – If you're travelling to Cardiff City Stadium by car, access from the M4 is easy. Leave the M4 at junction 33 and take the A4232 towards Cardiff/Barry. Exit the A4232 on to the B4267 turn-off, signposted towards Cardiff City Stadium. Follow the slip-road off the B4267 and take the first left at the roundabout - the Stadium will be on your right hand side. Turn right at the second set of traffic lights and follow the appropriate signage for your dedicated parking space.

By public transport – The railway station in closest proximity to Cardiff City Stadium is Grangetown Station. We are approximately 5-10 minutes walk away from Grangetown, which you can get to by taking a connecting train from Cardiff's main station, Cardiff Central. There are direct trains from London Paddington, Birmingham, the south coast and south-west England, with connections from the rest of the National Rail network to Central Station - a step free station with staff assistance available. There are local bus routes and stops that provide excellent access to Cardiff City Stadium.
